Flowing with the Waning Moon: A Journey of Release
This Saturday’s yoga class was guided by the soft, reflective energy of the waning gibbous moon, a time to release, integrate, and come back home to ourselves. After the fullness of the last lunar phase, we turned inward, allowing movement to become medicine and breath to become prayer.

The flow built slowly, grounding through the feet and opening through the spine, before rising into Eagle Pose (Garudasana) , our peak posture and a beautiful metaphor for this phase of the moon. In Eagle, we wrap the limbs and find stillness within the bind, reminding ourselves that restriction can also bring freedom. Like the moon’s light waning, this pose teaches us to let go of excess effort and trust the strength of surrender.
As we softened toward the end of class, we transitioned into Legs Up the Wall (Viparita Karani) and Reclined Butterfly (Supta Baddha Konasana) — postures of restoration and gentle opening. These shapes invited our bodies to release tension and receive stillness, aligning perfectly with the moon’s invitation to quiet reflection.
Before closing, we curled into fetal position, symbolizing renewal and the beginning of another cycle. Here, we sealed our practice with affirmations to open, express, and surrender:
🕊️ I open my heart to receive peace and release what no longer serves me.
🕊️ I honor the power of my voice and the beauty of my quiet.
🕊️ I speak my truth with kindness and clarity.
Which affirmation spoke to you most deeply this weekend? 🌙💫
